Project purpose: The purpose of the project is to develop an autonomous, incremental manufacturing technology (3D printing and milling) for the production of large-scale castings, along with an inspection and quality control system. Moulds, spatial elements and moulds for filling with materials such as concrete will be made from the material (similar to XPS). A key printed product may be pre-fabricated wall with a concrete core in stay-in-place formwork, where the extruded material will act as the form and insulation of the wall.

Project results: The solution under development will be a large-scale 3D printer capable of printing XPS formwork with a high degree of freedom of shape and the properties offered by the building material itself. The system will ensure simultaneous production of both unit and batch production, enabling easy and efficient personalisation of the manufactured products – on-demand production. Production is assumed to be waste-free – the material, which is temporarily wasted during machining, will be reused as part of the incremental production.

The solution will be addressed to construction companies predominantly engaged in the creation of prefabricated walls using stay-in-place cladding technology, as well as other products such as architectural sculptures, composite products.
