ESTAR
Explosive detection – spectroscopy, terahertz technology and radar
Program of the European Defence Agency (EDA), contract number: A-1085-RT-GC, project budget: EUR 2,000,000.00
Implementation timeframe: 01/10/2010 – 24/10/2012
Coordinator: Józef Stefan International Postgraduate School, Slovenia
Project purposes: The goal of the project was to build a prototype of a new system for safe detection of objects hidden in clothes of potential terrorists. The system developed by the project integrates the terahertz visualization, broadband radar and spectrometer subsystems. R&D work in the project included development of a prototype of a new device for 3D imaging in the terahertz band and a spectrometer responsible for remote detection (almost in real time) of concealed objects, capable of integrating large quantities of data.
