AI-Rec project
Artificial intelligence-assisted, safe and environmentally sound hard disk recycling, AI-Rec
Project purpose: The purpose of the project is to develop an innovative package of solutions to enable safe, environmentally sound and cost-effective recycling of hard disk drives, in specifically those with magnetic disks (HDD type). The proposed research places particular emphasis on the development of guaranteed security solutions for the destruction of sensitive data by means of a magnetic field (HDDs) or an electric field (SSDs). Preparation for automated recycling by disassembling the hard drive and segregating its components.
A key component of the proposed disassembly technology will be a package of innovative solutions using artificial intelligence to enable safe destruction of magnetic storage media (disk platters) and efficient segregation of disk components for recycling.
