Welcome to the Young Innovators Competition
We are waiting for applications for the 16th edition of the Young Innovators competition. Engineer’s, master’s and doctor’s theses defended after 1 January 2022 may be submitted until 29 February 2024.
You are invited to participate in the competition and to read the TERMS & CONDITIONS and the POSTER.
The Young Innovators competition is addressed to the students and graduates of exact sciences and technical intramural/extramural studies in Poland. The upcoming 16th edition of the competition accepts doctor’s, engineers’ or master’s theses written in Polish, German or English and defended after 1 January 2022. Submitted works must not infringe copyright, inventive rights or personal rights of third parties. The research and scientific values and practical applicability of the results in automation, robotics and measurements will be assessed. The topic range of the theses submitted to the competition has remained constant over the years and covers the following areas:
- control, automation icnluding process automation,
- robotics,
- metrology and measuring systems,
- measuring sensors and transducers,
- diagnostics and quality control systems.
Rules for Participation
To enter the competition, please email the following to konkurs@update.piap.lukasiewicz.gov.pl by 29 February 2024:
- the APPLICATION FORM including an abstract (up to 1 page) showing the innovation and originality of the thesis,
- filled in by one of the indicated persons: thesis supervisor / tutor / reviewer / faculty dean / associate dean / faculty tutor FEEDBACK FORM.
- a copy of the thesis in electronic form (PDF recommended),
- a multimedia presentation (up to 20 slides) in electronic form (PDF recommended).
In additon, send hard copies of the APPLICATION FORM and the FEEDBACK FORM by conventional mail to Sieć Badawcza Łukasiewicz – Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów (PIAP), Al. Jerozolimskie 202, 02-486 Warsaw. Make the following annotation on the envelope: “Konkurs prac” (“Thesis Competition”).
Prizes
The theses will be assessed in three categories: doctor’s thesis, master’s thesis and engineer’s thesis. The members of the competition committee will vote for winners by secret ballot. The prizes will be awarded for individual and team research. For team research, financial rewards will be distributed equally among all team members. The amount of prizes in this year’s “Young Innovators” competition is as follows:
- doctor’s thesis category: 1st prize – PLN 3,500, 2nd prize – PLN 2,500,
- master’s thesis category: 1st prize – PLN 3,000, 2nd prize – PLN 2,000,
- engineer’s thesis category: 1st prize – PLN 2,500, 2nd prize – PLN 1,500,
According to the Terms & Conditions, rewards may be distributed in other ways.
Announcement of results
The results of the competition will be announced on 8 May 2024 during the 28th AUTOMATION conference to be held at the headquarters of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – the Industrial Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) in Warsaw. The authors of the selected competition entries will be able to present them in the form of a presentation at a conference.
