Official opening of the Łukasiewicz-PIAP’s showroom in Korea
Łukasiewicz-PIAP’s mobile robot showroom for special applications was officially opened in Seoul on 20 October 2023.
The Warsaw-based institute has been present in the Korean market for more than eight years. EOD robots in the service of military operators and pyrotechnicians serve in all types of armed forces of the Republic of Korea. The main robot used by the Korean military is the PIAP GRYF.
The recent sales of the latest medium-sized (48 kg) PIAP GRYF digital robots and the latest version of the PIAP FENIX 3.0 robot for the police special forces have strengthened the position of the Polish manufacturer also in the services subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior.
As a major shareholder in the Institute’s solutions distributor Defence Korea, SONID Inc. has planned an investment to raise the profile of the Warsaw-based manufacturer’s new designs.
The following Łukasiewicz-PIAP robots were presented in the showroom: PIAP FENIX lightweight backpack pyrotechnic reconnaissance robot, PIAP GRYF medium-sized EOD robot recognised on the market and in the Korean services, PIAP PATROL 95-kg crawler and PIAP IBIS heavy (320 kg) pyrotechnic robot working at Poland’s largest airports.
Defence Korea (defencekorea.com) notes in its sales plans the fact of extensive cooperation in the defence sector of both countries and the possibility of offset purchases. South Korea is one of Poland’s key political and economic partners in Asia and the largest non-European investor in Poland. Close cooperation between Łukasiewicz Institute – PIAP and the strategic partner in this market develops the competence of both parties in mobile robotics designed to enhance safety and security.
The robots offered by Łukasiewicz-PIAP for the Korean market are jointly designed to handle specialised accessories manufactured by the Korean side. The robots operate the KD-101 ARES pyrotechnic launcher, the KED-7 APOLLON explosives detector or the mobile digital radiography systems.
The institute has consistently strengthened its position in Asian markets. Sales of the new PIAP PATROL robot design to Indonesia, Lebanon and Bangladesh this year alone bode well for the future.
The official opening of the robot showroom in Seoul was attended by the management of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, Łukasiewicz Centre, Łukasiewicz-PIAP, network institutes interested in cooperation in this market, as well as representatives of the Polish embassy and defence attachés of neighbouring countries interested in Łukasiewicz technology.
