HackVision - a chance for an internship at Łukasiewicz - PIAP

In January, the next editions of the HackVision programming marathon will start, in which you can win an industrial placement (internship) at Łukasiewicz – PIAP. The number of placements is limited, therefore you should consider registering now.

Lublin, Łomża, Katowice, Rzeszów and Szczecin – these cities will soon become a battlefield for programming enthusiasts to compete as part of the HackVision event. You can play for high stakes – unique prizes – including a trip to the Space City in Toulouse and three industrial placements are available at Łukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Institute of Automation and Measurements PIAP.

Unique project

The event is held by the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography and Absiskey Poland in association with Spectre Solutions. The competition is being held as part of the Framework Partnership Agreement on Copernicus User Uptake (FP CUP) project, which addresses the use of Copernicus data and service products and focuses on Computer Vision. HackVision will involve technology lectures given by experts, giving access to the latest Machine Learning knowledge, workshops on satellite data and Copernicus programme services and case studies based on the experience of space companies.

Ideas into practice

The subject of the competition is the practical application of Machine Learning and Computer Vision techniques. The challenge facing the contestants is to develop an application or solution demo that can support public administration units, e.g. in improving road safety. To complete the challenge, the contestants use artificial intelligence-based analysis of satellite images and photographs taken from drones and aircraft.

An internship at Łukasiewicz – PIAP – a chance to get involved and participate in innovative projects

Monthly programming internships at Łukasiewicz – PIAP, carried out in the institute’s centres dealing with mobile and industrial robot research, will be an opportunity to learn about the specifics of work at one of the largest industrial institutes in Poland, which requires a lot of knowledge, unconventional solutions and cooperation between specialists from many fields of science.

Participants will be involved in projects that have a high potential for innovation, such as a prototype of a robot cooperating with a human, a model of a family of vehicles for research on autonomy algorithms, connecting devices to networks within the Internet of Things or using virtual reality glasses to control a mobile robot. During their work, interns will use advanced signal processing methods, including image analysis and fusion of data from different sensors, and have the chance to engage with the institute at the end of their internship.
